The First One
Hi! I’m Laura. Welcome to my blog!
I know this blog is not perfect, but it’s getting done. I have been putting off publishing my own blog for years, mostly because I worked in public service and it wasn’t appropriate to publish at that time. I haven’t worked in public service in 2 years so I think it’s okay to have an opinion now. :-)
My overarching goal here is to foster understanding between generations and encourage us all to take a step back real quick and assess if what is happening in this country right now. His supporters want it, yes, but that’s only like 30% of the US population! The other 30% voted for Kamala and the rest of you need to register to vote RIGHT NOW. Long story short, You are needed somehow in this fight. You may not know why or how yet, but it’ll come to you.
As part of my views, I fully embrace intersectional feminism and will be right there dismantling white supremacy along the way (because f*ck that sh*t!). I know my privileges as a white woman because I grew up in the middle-class in predominantly white communities, one of them very rural. But guess what? I am here. I made it. I woke up to the rest of the big old world out there. There is nothing wrong with being “woke” aka compassionate for others.
I may say things on this blog that make you angry. When I do that, take a deep breath and really assess why you’re angry. Did I hit a sore spot related to a past trauma or something? Did I remind you of past behaviors you now abhor but wish you hadn’t done in the first place? Good. I want you to think and use your beautiful brain! Channel that anger for the greater good.
I’m almost 40 and have entered my villain era. Ursula the Sea Witch ain’t got nothin’ on me! Like, I used to give f*cks about a variety of things but now, I give way less of them. My “F*cks Jar” is empty, to be perfectly honest. So let’s just be candid with one another. There is no time to sugar-coat things anymore.
I don’t know what’s coming, but I do know what actions I am prepared to take once it gets here. Let’s figure this out together, y’all. Boomers, Millennials, Gen-Xers, and any and all generations.
Thank you for reading and wishing you the best of all days!
