Federal Workers
For about a decade, I was a federal worker, and I worked for a Member of Congress. All of this talk about federal workers “not doing their jobs” or “not working hard enough” or basically sucking on the teat of the federal government really pisses me off! As a caseworker, I got to know people working at all of these agencies, even the IRS y’all, and these are good people just trying to do their jobs and make a positive difference in their communities.
The federal government is the biggest employer in our entire country.
I saw Elon in the media with a chainsaw a few weeks ago and I thought, “Wow, that’s horrible. So many people are going to be out of work!” And they are now. To offer a buyout without the permission of Congress (who holds the purse strings), and then taking it back and firing everyone instead is SO sh*tty to do to them! Some are being hired back, but after being fired, rehired, and fired again, I know if I was in their shoes I’d be like, “HA! Nope, not coming back!” No one deserves to be jerked around like that, especially with their livelihoods.
Do NOT dehumanize Federal Workers. Period. They are people too! Just like you.
They are the people that answer the phones at the Social Security office when your checks don’t come through to help you fix the issue. They are the people delivering your mail and packages to your doorstep every day. They are the people, doctors and nurses and pharmacists and therapists, who take care of our Veterans at VA facilities. They are the people who make sure planes don’t fall out of the sky and that the nuclear weapons I’m sure we still have are secure. They are the people who are in charge of government financial aid to get a college education. They are the people who make sure our air and water are relatively safe and clean. They are the people who make sure our food is safe to eat. They are the people who
Do most people not want these services? I know that there is waste, fraud, and abuse in government but like, damn. I didn’t think y’all wanted the scorched earth policy Donald and Elon are implementing! Idk about you, but I prefer clean drinking water and food that is safe to eat and planes not falling out of the sky. I prefer having federal workers around as federal workers, and this is such a sh*tty thing the Trump administration is doing to them.
I am PROUD to see them out marching in cities all over the country, protesting this horrible injustice being done to them. I am proud to call them my countrymen and women and I think they should all be re-hired ASAP and given full compensation for all the hardships the Trump administration has put them through. But that’s not gonna happen under Elon and Trump.
