Mixed Signals
It’s a ‘put your head in your hands’ kind of moment when you hear that the higher ups in our intelligence community have used an encrypted app called Signal to have a conversation about WAR PLANS and then accidentally included Editor-In-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic (The Story).
For one thing, what are they DOING not using their government issued phones which are encrypted in a more secure way, and can accurately document what they are doing? Two things: I have a feeling they were trying to circumvent that to not have to answer to the American people or Congress for what they are doing. Those chats can’t be subpoenaed or FOIA requested, can they? I truly don’t know. All I know is that after having a government-issued phone for a number of years, they are more secure than some random app.
And I KNOW they were trying to not be on record doing what they were doing. That really bothers me. What else do they have planned that they don’t want on-record? Something to think about.
I also love how no one noticed Mr. Goldberg was included on the chat until the story breaks in the Atlantic. What a bunch of idiots! How dangerous to our Troops in combat! How dangerous for our CIA Assets! Troops and assets were put in harms way by his administration. He has made clear on several occasions that he doesn’t like our Military and he does’t give any sh*ts about our Veterans.
Ummm…what also worries me is that does this happen all the time? Who else has been included in these Signal chats that hasn’t spoke up yet? And WHY are government officials allowed to use their personal phones for official government business? Period. You have those phones for a reason, people!
It’s being treated by Trump’s team as “just a mistake” and they don’t seem to plan to fire this person, Mr. Pete Hegseth, for sharing the info itself of troop movements and CIA assets, or Mike Waltz for starting the chain in the first place. They have deflected and projected and are doing their usual Trump-y tricks to keep the American public confused.
If a Democrat had pulled this crap, you better believe Republicans would be all over it! They’d be calling for Hegseth’s firing, Gabbard and Waltz too. What incompetence! Effing frat boys and their dumbassery. What a bunch of hypocrites! Nothing will happen to them because we are now living in Trump’s dystopian America…‘Murica.
So I definitely don’t feel any safer with all of THAT going on. Breathe, y’all, take a minute. I hope things turn out okay for all of us.
